Description: Ammonium sulfate is widely used as a nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture. Its high nitrogen content (21% nitrogen) provides essential nutrients for plant growth. It is particularly suitable for crops that require high nitrogen levels, such as leafy greens, grains, and grasses. Ammonium sulfate helps improve crop yields, promotes healthy plant growth, and enhances nitrogen utilization efficiency.
1. Nitrogen Source: Ammonium sulfate is an excellent source of nitrogen for plants. It provides both ammonium (NH4+) and sulfate (SO4²-) ions. However, it must be noted that ammonium sulfate cannot be mixed with lime to prevent the decomposition of nitrogen loss.
