Description:
UAN is the most popular nitrogen solution and is used as a direct application fertilizer or as a blending agent in liquid or suspension mixed fluids. UAN32 solution is used for tree crops such as almonds, cereal grains and potatoes.

Applications:
UAN solutions are commonly injected into the soil beneath the surface, sprayed onto the soil surface, dribbled as a band onto the surface, added to irrigation water, or sprayed onto plant leaves as a source of foliar nutrition. However, UAN may damage foliage if it's sprayed directly on some plants, so dilution with water may be needed.

Is UAN better than urea?
UAN is also susceptible to ammonia volatilization, but only 50% of the nitrogen in UAN is urea. Therefore, UAN is roughly half as susceptible to ammonia volatilization as dry urea. UAN also provides more flexibility regarding in-season applications than dry urea.
Is UAN corrosive?
The downside of UAN is that it is highly corrosive to storage tanks, pipes, rail cars, and agricultural application equipment. Left Untreated, UAN corrosion can lead to following detrimental impacts for producers: Unscheduled plant shutdowns. Discoloration and sludge formation.
