Properties: White crystalline powder. Soluble in water, aqueous solution is alkaline, insoluble in ethanol, and ether. Hygroscopic, exposed to the air can absorb carbon dioxide and water, into potassium bicarbonate, should be sealed packaging. Hydrate consists of monohydrate, dihydrate and trihydrate.

Applications:Potassium carbonate can be used in glass , printing and dyeing, soap, enamel, preparation of potassium salt, ammonia decarbonylation, also used in color television industry. Desiccant in chemical experiments. It is also used in food as leavening agent, alkaline agent and dough improver.
